Citing ‘Strong, Unapologetic Leadership,’ Cuomo Receives Endorsements from Staten Island Democratic Officials for NYC Mayor
Assembly Member Fall, Council Member Hanks, Back Governor Cuomo’s Campaign to Save our City
Governor Andrew Cuomo today received the endorsement of Staten Island Assembly Member Charles Fall and Council Member Kamillah Hanks in his campaign for Mayor of New York City, citing his strong, unapologetic leadership to help save this city.
Assembly Member Fall serves as New York State Assembly Assistant Majority Leader, representing New York’s 61st Assembly District, and Council Member Hanks represents New York City’s District 49.
“When Andrew Cuomo was Governor, our streets felt safer, buying a home wasn’t out of reach, and Staten Islanders finally got the toll relief we had fought for. He didn’t just talk—he delivered,” Assembly Member Charles Fall said. “Our city is struggling, and we need that kind of leadership now more than ever. I know what he can do because I’ve seen it firsthand, and that’s why I’m proud to endorse Andrew Cuomo for Mayor.”
“No one can argue that we are living in unprecedented times– we need a tested person that will rise to the challenges of today and prepare us for the future. Former Governor Andrew Cuomo has a record of decisiveness that cannot be denied,” Council Member Kamillah Hanks said. “No matter where you stand, one thing is clear: New York needs strong, unapologetic leadership, I believe Andrew Cuomo provides exactly that. I am with him.”
This support follows the rousing endorsements that Governor Cuomo received from the Staten Island Democratic Party, along with the backing of District Leaders from Staten Island and across the five boroughs. These District Leaders have united in support of Cuomo’s mayoral bid, citing his record of effective leadership, commitment to public safety, and forward-thinking vision for the future of New York City.
Throughout his career in public service, Governor Cuomo has been a champion for working New Yorkers. He raised wages for millions of workers, passed the strongest gun violence prevention and paid family leave laws in the nation, advanced the most substantial infrastructure program in a generation, including the Second Avenue Subway, the Moynihan Train Hall, the new Kosciuszko Bridge and the new JFK and LaGuardia airports and codified Roe vs. Wade in state law years before the Supreme Court overturned it, all while cutting taxes and reining in spending. On Staten Island, Cuomo led the charge during the recovery of Hurricane Sandy, and implemented toll relief for Staten Islanders, increased the number of lanes and rapid bus service on the Verrazano-Narrows bridge, made a dedicated HOV lane in the Battery Tunnel, and built a brand new Goethals Bridge.
Assembly Member Fall and Council Member Hanks join former New York State Comptroller H. Carl McCall, U.S. Rep. Ritchie Torres, the Staten Island Democratic Party, Assembly Member Eddie Gibbs, Assembly Member Yudelka Tapia, the New York City and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters, District Council 9 of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, former Brooklyn Democratic party Chairman Frank Seddio, Brooklyn Democratic party Vice Chair Henry Butler, 25 district leaders from across New York City, former national director of the Anti-Defamation League Abe Foxman, the Village Reform Democratic Club, and the Italian American Leadership Council in endorsing Governor Cuomo for Mayor of New York City.
