Governor Andrew M. Cuomo Receives Endorsement of Assembly Member Eddie Gibbs for Mayor of New York City
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for Mayor of New York City, today received the endorsement of Assembly Member Eddie Gibbs.
Gibbs, who represents East Harlem and Randall’s Island as well as parts of the Upper East Side and Central Harlem, said the Governor is a fighter who has the courage to stand up for New Yorkers and the conviction to get the job done.
“I’ve known Andrew Cuomo for years, and I’ve seen firsthand his dedication to the people of New York– especially those too often left behind,” said Assembly Member Eddie Gibbs. “Andrew has always fought for our communities, and I’m proud to support him for Mayor of New York City. He’s the leader we need to take on the tough fights and make this city work for everyone, including hardworking New Yorkers fighting for a second chance.”
Throughout his career in public service, Governor Cuomo has been a champion for working New Yorkers. He raised wages for millions of workers, passed the strongest gun violence prevention and paid family leave laws in the nation, advanced the most substantial infrastructure program in a generation, including the Second Avenue Subway, the Moynihan Train Hall, the new Kosciuszko Bridge and the new JFK and LaGuardia airports and codified Roe vs. Wade in state law years before the Supreme Court overturned it, all while cutting taxes and reining in spending.
The Assembly Member joins former New York State Comptroller H. Carl McCall, U.S. Rep. Ritchie Torres, the Staten Island Democratic Party, Assembly Member Yudelka Tapia, New York City and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters, District Council 9 of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, former Brooklyn Democratic party Chairman Frank Seddio, Brooklyn Democratic party Vice Chair Henry Butler, 25 district leaders from across New York City, former national director of the Anti-Defamation League Abe Foxman, the Village Reform Democratic Club, and the Italian American Leadership Council in endorsing Governor Cuomo for Mayor of New York City.
