Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today received the endorsement of Assembly Member Latrice Walker in his campaign for Mayor of New York City. Addressing a packed room filled with over 100 women supporters of Cuomo for Mayor, the Assembly Member highlighted the Governor’s record of delivering for New Yorkers, raising the educational standards of our students, and lowering the cost of everyday pocketbook expenses for Brooklyn families.

“As a born and raised native of Brooklyn, it breaks my heart to hear from my friends and neighbors about how New York City has almost overnight become a place only the rich can afford,” Assembly Member Walker said. “I walk the streets every day and listen to how the people are crying out for a proven leader with a real track record of getting stuff done for New Yorkers. I’ve seen Andrew Cuomo run toward the toughest fights—and win—especially when it meant making life better for Black and Brown New Yorkers. Under Andrew Cuomo, rent was more affordable, homeownership was attainable, quality and affordable healthcare was accessible throughout our state, and our schools performed better. That didn’t happen by accident—it was the result of his leadership. As Governor, Andrew Cuomo was a truly battle-tested leader, and as our next Mayor, he can lead our great City into a new era of prosperity for everyone, and that’s why I’m endorsing his campaign.”

Assembly Member Walker represents the 55th Assembly District in Brooklyn, which includes parts of Brownsville. She is a leading voice on voting rights, criminal justice reform, environmental justice, affordable housing, tenants’ rights, and a host of other issues important to New Yorkers.

He raised wages for millions of workers, passed the strongest gun violence prevention and paid family leave laws in the nation, advanced the most substantial infrastructure program in a generation, including the Second Avenue Subway, the Moynihan Train Hall, the new Kosciuszko Bridge and the new JFK and LaGuardia airports and codified Roe vs. Wade in state law years before the Supreme Court overturned it, all while cutting taxes and reining in spending.
