“The New York City Coalition of Operating Engineers, representing approximately 21,000 hardworking men and women, is proud to recognize Governor Cuomo’s proven track record of support for organized labor and the Operating Engineers. Under his leadership, our members benefited from significant work opportunities across New York City’s construction sites, commercial and residential buildings, and schools. His unwavering commitment to the working men and women of our great city is unrivaled and evident in the major infrastructure projects he initiated and the long-overdue projects he brought to completion after decades of talk. Our City needs steady, experienced leadership, which is why we are proud to endorse Andrew Cuomo for Mayor,” said Ed Christian, President of the NYC Coalition of the International Union of Operating Engineers.

“I have been working with the I.U.O.E. since my father’s first campaign, and their support has always meant a great deal to me,” Governor Cuomo said. “New York City was built by hardworking union men and women, and they will be the ones to help rebuild it again. If we want to solve the affordability crisis and restore public safety, we need to create good-paying, union jobs and real opportunities for all New Yorkers. That’s exactly what I did as Governor, and that’s exactly what I will do again as mayor.”

He also advanced the most substantial infrastructure program in a generation, including the Second Avenue Subway, the Moynihan Train Hall and the new Kosciuszko Bridge and the new JFK and LaGuardia Airports – all major projects built with union labor.
