Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today received the endorsement of Rev. Dr. Johnnie M. Greene Jr., for New York City mayor following a service at Mount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem Sunday morning.

“As a faith leader I am just as committed to the economic and physical safety of my flock as I am about their spiritual well-being,” Rev. Dr. Greene said. “Our city is facing unprecedented challenges—rising inequality, public safety concerns, housing insecurity, and economic uncertainty—all while trust in government continues to erode. Leadership in City Hall must be strong, decisive, and focused on solutions that uplift all New Yorkers, particularly Black and brown communities that have historically borne the brunt of systemic inequities. Andrew Cuomo has successfully fought to improve the quality of living for working families, stood up to entrenched power, and delivered meaningful change. I have witnessed his dedication to the people of New York City, his efforts to improve our neighborhoods, and his commitment to tackling the pressing issues of our time with a steadfast determination. His leadership reflects the values that resonate deeply with my own beliefs: the importance of lifting up the marginalized, working toward equity, and fostering a city where every person can thrive. In my heart, I trust that his leadership will guide us toward a brighter future, one built on justice, compassion, and the shared hope that we can come together.”

Rev. Dr. Greene serves as Senior Pastor of The Mount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem. Greene has successfully led the church through gentrification, a building restoration program, and demographic change in Harlem. Known for his dynamic preaching, teaching, bold activism and social justice work, Greene has served as a guest preacher, evangelist and lecturer for churches, colleges and seminaries across the United States and abroad.

Rev. Dr. Greene joins U.S. Rep. Ritchie Torres, former State Comptroller H. Carl McCall, former Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., the Staten Island Democratic Party, Assembly Member Latrice Walker, Assembly Member Erik Dilan, Assembly Member Yudelka Tapia, Assembly Member Charles Fall, Assembly Member Eddie Gibbs, Council Member Farah N. Louis, Council Member Darlene Mealy, Council Member Kamillah Hanks, the New York City and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters, District Council 9 of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Teamsters Local 237, former Brooklyn Democratic Party Chairman Frank Seddio and Brooklyn Democratic Party Vice Chair Henry Butler, 25 District Leaders from across the city, former national Director of the Anti-Defamation League Abe Foxman, the Village Reform Democratic Club, Aldo's Democratic Club of Astoria, and the Italian American Leadership Council in endorsing Governor Cuomo for Mayor of New York City.

Throughout his career in public service, Governor Cuomo has been a champion for working New Yorkers. He raised wages for millions of workers, passed the strongest gun violence prevention and paid family leave laws in the nation, advanced the most substantial infrastructure program in a generation, including the Second Avenue Subway, the Moynihan Train Hall, the new Kosciuszko Bridge and the new JFK and LaGuardia airports and codified Roe vs. Wade in state law years before the Supreme Court overturned it, all while cutting taxes and reining in spending.
